JR Ashiya Station’s South Exit Has Been Renovated with Uniqlo a Small Upscale Supermarket and a Gachapon Corner

The south exit of JR Ashiya Station finally got a fresh new look starting March 26!

JR Ashiya Station’s South Exit Is Taking Shape Opens Sat Mar 26 with Commemorative Gifts from UNIQLO and YAMASHO

YAMASHO Opens Tomorrow March 26 at JR Ashiya Station South Exit with Bakery and Delicatessen Plus Free Nure Ohagi for First 50 Customers

Here it is on the map↓

The address is 1-30 Funadocho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.

UNIQLO and YAMASHO Have Opened Inside the Station

↑UNIQLO JR Ashiya Station Store, which opened inside the station outside the ticket gates

Since it’s a UNIQLO inside a station, the shop is on the smaller side, but it seemed to have all the standard items well covered.

Apparently, YAMASHO is a new business format by Yamasho, a company that operates liquor specialty stores and organic-focused food supermarkets mainly in the Tango area of Kyoto Prefecture.

Inside, you’ll find food, daily necessities, alcohol, and more, including products from the upscale supermarket Kinokuniya, which has many locations mainly in the Kanto area!

They also have a solid lineup of organic products, giving it the feel of a compact upscale supermarket!

Things We Bought at YAMASHO

Since we were there, we did a little shopping at YAMASHO.

The bread “Arumu no Mori” 171 yen (tax included) had plenty of cream cheese inside dough with dried cranberries!

For clotted cream, the kind you eat with scones and the like, they had two brands on the shelves: Takanashi Milk Products and Nakazawa Dairy. That was a big plus! (This time we bought Takanashi Milk Products “Hokkaido Clotted Cream” 296 yen before tax.)

They also had a good selection of slightly less common dairy products, like sour cream and mascarpone cheese!

We toasted Kinokuniya’s “English Muffins,” 2 pieces for 181 yen before tax, and ate them with clotted cream! A slightly luxurious breakfast♪

↑In addition to food, they also sold daily necessities like organic detergent, shampoo, hand cream, and toothbrushes!

The organic soap made in New Zealand, 280 yen before tax, can even be used by babies. The scent is mild, but it lathers well and feels nice!

There’s Also a Capsule Toy Corner and Rental Chargers

↑Next to the coin lockers beside the south exit stairs, there’s now a capsule toy corner too!

↑And there are rental chargers as well! They look like the same type as the ones at Hanshin Ashiya Station and other places.

In Closing

The south exit has been renovated and now has some convenient shops, though areas like the escalators are still under construction. We’re looking forward to seeing JR Ashiya Station become even cleaner and more convenient!
