There’s a baked sweets specialty shop called “Imo Kuri Nankin ASHIYA” along Miyagawa Keyaki-dori, and I’d been curious for a while because they recently started selling really cheap roasted sweet potatoes, so I went and bought one!
Roasted Sweet Potatoes & Strawberry Butter Sandwiches at “Imo Kuri Nankin ASHIYA”

“Yaki-imo” 100 yen each (tax included)
These days, roasted sweet potatoes even at Don Quijote are usually around 200 yen, but here they’re always just 100 yen including tax! Such a deal!

↑They’re on the smaller side, about palm-sized, but that might actually be the perfect size for a snack.

↑Here’s what it looks like when you split it open. It’s a sweet, golden, sticky-style roasted sweet potato! Apparently they slowly roast long-aged sweet potatoes at a low temperature.

↑While I was there, I also bought their new “Strawberry Milk Butter Sandwich” for 300 yen (tax included).
This is a refrigerated item, and they recommend putting it in the freezer soon after purchase for storage.

↑It’s sandwiched between heart-shaped “oimo sable” cookies. It looks so cute too.

↑Inside is a special strawberry milk-flavored buttercream!

↑The buttercream uses Italian meringue, so it isn’t heavy at all and feels really light! When you eat it well chilled, it’s easy to enjoy, almost like ice cream. It’s also great for the warmer season ahead♪
Menu at “Imo Kuri Nankin ASHIYA”

↑The roasted sweet potato machine is set up outside the shop, but you order from the staff inside. If you buy one as a set with hot coffee, it’s 300 yen (tax included).

↑The shop sells baked sweets like financiers, pound cakes, steamed breads, canelés, madeleines, and sable cookies. Just like the shop name suggests, they use ingredients such as sweet potatoes, chestnuts, and pumpkin.

↑The new strawberry milk butter sandwiches are available in limited quantities! Get there soon.

↑They apparently use dough kneaded with sweet potato in all of their products. Recently, they’ve also been popping up at department store events and other special sales.
