It looks like a new shop called “Omusubi Koron.” is set to open around mid-January in ARPA Ashiya, near JR Ashiya Station!

↑Sawada Foods is well known for its fresh furikake seasonings, including “Ika Kombu” and “Ume Chirimen,” which earned a place in the National Furikake Grand Prix Gold Award Hall of Fame! Could this be an omusubi shop featuring its fresh furikake? We can’t wait to find out!

↑The shop is on the first floor of ARPA Ashiya along Ekimae-dori. The Chinese restaurant “CHI・i・NA” is immediately to the left, and the shoe salon “Elise” is to the right.
↑Head this way (east), and you’ll reach JR Ashiya Station, where Mont et Mer and La Porte are located.
↑Head the other way (west), and you’ll pass the farm-to-table salad shop “ta” and the bakery “BAKE STAND” before reaching Taisho Bridge, which crosses the Ashiyagawa River.
↑Across the street are the kimono dressing school “Kimono Road MICHIKO” and “Émule Ballet School.”

Ashiya’s specialty rice ball scene has been booming in recent years, with “Omusubi Ashiya Chaya” opening along Ashiya Hondori last November and the specialty rice ball shop “Kin no Onigiri Bonta Bonta” opening in Mont et Mer by JR Ashiya Station in July the year before last.
And now Sawada Foods, famous for “Ika Kombu,” may be entering the fray with a brand-new concept!? It looks like the competition among Ashiya’s onigiri and omusubi specialty shops is about to heat up even more!
