The gyudon chain Sukiya is constructing a new building in Shimizu-cho along National Route 2!

↑It appears to be facing west. You can see a distinctive structure resembling a pencil or the framework of a triangular roof.

↑For reference: The exterior of Sukiya Nishinomiya Nakadono, which opened in neighboring Nakadono-cho, Nishinomiya, in 2024 (via our sister site, Nishinomiya Tsushin).
Roadside Sukiya locations seem to have a clock tower like this near the entrance.

↑A view of the construction site from across Route 2. This is where the used-car dealership U-Pohs Route 2 Ashiya used to be.
Here’s the map↓
The address is 4-6 Shimizu-cho, Ashiya, Hyogo.
Around Sukiya

↑Located on the north side of National Route 2, the site has Ashiya Hanani Co., Ltd. on its left and Toyo Laundry on its right.

↑Heading this way (east), you’ll pass Hakata Ramen Genkotsu Ashiya, Kobijutsu Banri, Lotus Kobe, and other businesses on the way toward the Ashiya River.

↑Heading the other way (west), you’ll pass Rupinas Child Development Support, Tsuchiya Liquor Store, Gin no Sara Ashiya, and other businesses before entering Higashinada Ward, Kobe, where Selva Konan-Yamate is located.

↑Across the street, you’ll find antique art dealer Hata Kobijutsu and other businesses.
In Closing
The clock tower-like structure makes it seem almost certain that this will indeed be a Sukiya! We’re looking forward to the opening of Ashiya’s only gyudon chain restaurant!
