A branch of the gyudon chain Sukiya may be opening along National Route 2 in Shimizu-cho.
(Thanks to Minmi and Boboboboon for the tip.)

↑ The construction plan sign posted at the planned site. The builder is listed as Sukiya Co., Ltd. What caught our attention is that the “use” is somehow listed as “Category 1 Residential Zone”… (By the way, it seems small-scale stores are allowed to be built in Category 1 Residential Zones.)
The building is planned to be a one-story wooden structure, with the construction period scheduled from April 1 to September 30.

↑ The planned construction site. This is where the used car purchasing shop U-POHS Route 2 Ashiya Store used to be.
Here’s the map↓
The address is 4-6 Shimizu-cho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Area around the possible Sukiya site

↑ On the north side of National Route 2, “Ashiya Hanani Co., Ltd.” is on the left when facing the site, and “Toyo Laundry” is on the right.

↑ If you head this way (east), you’ll find places like “Hakata Ramen Genkotsu Ashiya Store,” “Tofu Kobo Hana,” “Kobijutsu Banri,” and “Lotus Kobe,” leading toward the Ashiya River area.

↑ If you go the opposite way (west), you’ll find places like “Child Development Support Lupinus,” “Tsuchiya Liquor Store,” and “Gin no Sara Ashiya Store,” and then enter Higashinada Ward, Kobe City, where places like “Selva Konan Yamate” are located.

↑ Across the street, there is the antique art shop “Shin Kobijutsu,” among others.
Final thoughts
It’s quite close to Kobe City, but if Sukiya opens here, it would become the only major gyudon chain in Ashiya City. Will Sukiya really open here!? We’ll be keeping an eye on future developments.
Minmi and Boboboboon, thank you for the information!
