It looks like the new Maruhachi supermarket planned for the new shopping mall “OTTO Minami Ashiyahama” in the Kaiyocho area of Minami Ashiyahama is scheduled to open in February next year (2026)〜

↑The opening date is listed as February 4, but since that was the date at the time of application, it may change going forward.
↑On site, there were signs for a “Specified Building Construction Plan” and a “Residential Land Development Plan.” It looks like a total of three steel-frame buildings will be built.
In addition to the supermarket, the shopping mall is apparently planned to include restaurants, a 100-yen shop, specialty stores, medical clinics, and a free space open to the community〜
↑This is what the planned site of “OTTO Minami Ashiyahama” looks like. It’s expected to be built next to the current “Super Maruhachi Minami Ashiyahama Store”, and apparently the existing store is planned to continue operating even after the new store opens〜

↑If you go this way (east) along Montebello Street on the south side of the site, you’ll find “Life Garden Shio Ashiya,” a shopping mall with places like the home center “Kohnan Minami Ashiyahama Store” and “Super Maruhachi Minami Ashiyahama Store,” as well as “Shio Ashiya Onsen SPA Suishun.”
↑If you go this way (north) along Ashiya City Road Minamihama Kaiyo Line on the west side of the site, you’ll reach Ashiya City Road Yoko Kaiyo Line, which runs along the north side of the site.
Finally
Since it’s after next February, it still feels like quite a while away, but a new large shopping mall is definitely something that draws a lot of attention〜! Construction has finally started, and we’re looking forward to seeing it completed!
