At JR Ashiya Station (outside the ticket gates), panels summarizing “150 Years of Ashiya’s History” were on display.
↑ Titled “150 Years of Ashiya’s History, Developed Alongside the Railway,” this appears to be a project commemorating the 150th anniversary of the opening of the railway between Kobe and Osaka.

↑ The panels were posted on the windows outside the ticket gates, next to the entrance to the “ticket office.”
↑ The “Meiji/Taisho” section features photos and explanations about how Ashiya began attracting attention as a suburban residential area with the opening of the railway.
↑ The “Taisho/Showa” section features photos and explanations about Ashiya becoming popular as a villa area, with places like the “Yodoko Guest House” being built.
↑ The “Showa/Heisei to Present” section includes photos and explanations showing Ashiya further evolving into an “International Cultural Residential City” open to the world. (The station building was also renovated last year!)
As part of the “Kobe–Osaka Railway Opening 150th Anniversary Project,” in addition to the panel exhibition, it looks like commemorative ekiben railway bento are being sold at places such as “Awajiya,” and there is also a digital stamp rally along the railway line!
