A new cafe called “麹菓堂 wabi(きっかどう わび)” opened on February 20 on the 1st floor of “Space R” along Chaya Sakura-dori!

↑The exterior of “麹菓堂 wabi.” Before the renewal, it operated as “Cafe Rucette(カフェ リュシェット).”

↑There’s a stylish sign out front.
Here’s the map↓
The address is 1-12 Chayanomachi, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Area Around “麹菓堂 wabi”

↑It’s on the east side of Chaya Sakura-dori, in a three-story building. The 2nd floor is the bookstore “R books,” the 3rd floor is “Gallery R,” and the basement is “Stage R.”

↑If you go this way south, you’ll find the healthy meal spot “come come” next door, and farther along are places like “Pave Artisan Ashiya Main Store,” “RIO COFFEE Ashiya Main Store,” and “和食 様様.”

↑If you go the opposite way north, you’ll reach National Route 2. Cross it and keep going, and you’ll find places like “芦屋 とんかつ む藏,” eventually arriving in front of the south exit of JR Ashiya Station.

↑Across the street, there’s the hair salon “ホワイトハウス 芦屋さくら並木店” and other shops.
Inside “麹菓堂 wabi”

↑Here’s what the inside looks like. You order first at the register, wait at any seat you like, and then pick up your food when it’s ready.

↑The area on the right after entering the shop, which used to sell stationery and other items, has become a small gallery.
Menu at “麹菓堂 wabi”

↑They had quiche plates, baked sweets, crepes, pudding and other desserts, drinks like coffee, tea, and amazake, plus alcoholic drinks too.

↑They were also selling granola made with koji!

Final Thoughts
Among the koji sweets, there were items made with domestic wheat flour as well as rice flour treats, making it a nice lineup for those concerned about gluten!
We’ll be sharing a report on actually having tea at the cafe in an upcoming “Ashitsuu Gourmet” article, so stay tuned!
