It looks like a five-story apartment building with retail space is going to be built along National Route 2 in Kusunoki-cho.

↑The planned construction site. This used to be the site of a condominium and apartment building with tenants such as “焼肉 喰天下” on the first floor. (“焼肉 喰天下” has already relocated about 300m west.)

↑The construction plan sign. It will be a five-story apartment building with retail space and 17 residential units. The developer is Main Stage Co., Ltd., which owns many properties in Ashiya. Construction is scheduled from April 1 to February 28 next year.
Here is the map↓
The address is 4-12 Kusunoki-cho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Area around the planned apartment and retail building site

↑On the north side of National Route 2, the neighboring property on the right as you face it is the temporarily closed “芦屋らーめん処 花麺.”

↑If you head this way to the east, you’ll find places like “ガスト 芦屋店,” “にぎり長次郎 芦屋店,” and “ケンタッキーフライドチキンR-2芦屋店.”

↑If you go the other way to the west, there are places like the fresh pasta restaurant “グリーンヤード 芦屋店”, “ロイヤルホスト芦屋店,” and “ローソン 宮川店.”

↑This is what the view across the street looks like.
Finally
Main Stage Co., Ltd. is also currently building a six-story apartment building with retail space on the nearby former site of “e-JAF STATION 芦屋”, so it seems likely that construction here will begin after that one is completed.
Construction is still quite a ways off, both for the start and completion, but I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of shops move in!
