It looks like a “Welcia Pharmacy” will be opening at the former site of “Kappo Otowa Ashiya” in Kusunoki-cho, along National Route 2 near the city border with Nishinomiya.

The address is 11-19 Kusunoki-cho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Right now, the building doesn’t really look like it’s going to become a pharmacy, but…
The construction plan posted at the entrance lists “Welcia Pharmacy Co., Ltd.” as the client and “retail store” as the intended use.
The construction period is from the end of August to the end of December in Reiwa 3, so it will probably open next year.
“Kappo Otowa Ashiya,” which used to operate at this location, apparently closed on May 31, 2020.

To the left (west) is “Kentucky Fried Chicken,” and to the right (east) is “Athlon Junior Sports Club Ashiya Gym.”
If you head this way (east), you’ll find “Rokko Miso Factory,” a gas station, Kusunoki Children’s Park, and “Jolly Pasta Ashiya,” before entering Nishinomiya City. (You can also just barely see “Life Shukugawa” in the distance.)
In the opposite direction (west), beyond Kentucky, there are places like “Nigiri Chojiro Ashiya,” “Suzuki Arena Ashiya Chuo,” the French restaurant “Chez Mori,” and “Gusto Ashiya.”
Directly across the road is a medical mall with “Futatsuka Pharmacy,” “Miyazaki Internal Medicine Clinic,” and other facilities. Diagonally across to the left is “McDonald’s Ashiya Uchide.”
Finally
The building clearly doesn’t look like a pharmacy or drugstore, and the construction period is pretty long, so maybe it will be rebuilt after all. It’s a large building, so demolition work seems like it would be quite a job…!
Drugstores often hold sales when they open, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the opening date and let you know!
