Sukiya Route 2 Ashiya Shimizu Is Now Open and We Got Sukiya Chopsticks

A new gyudon restaurant, “Sukiya Route 2 Ashiya Shimizu”, opened on October 6 along National Route 2 in Shimizu-cho!

↑Customers who purchased one main menu item received a complimentary pair of original Sukiya chopsticks! Apparently, they were limited to 1,000 pairs. We also received a coupon.

↑Here’s what the chopsticks look like. They are heat-resistant up to 80°C, so apparently they cannot be washed in a dishwasher.

↑Orders were placed using self-service kiosks. We visited in the middle of the afternoon, after lunchtime, but it was still so busy that almost all the tables were occupied.

↑The restaurant is on the north side of National Route 2. Ashiya Hanani Co., Ltd. is immediately to the left when facing the store, and Toyo Laundry is to the right.

↑Head this way (east), and you’ll find Hakata Ramen Genkotsu Ashiya, Kobijutsu Banri, Lotus Kobe, and other businesses on the way toward the Ashiya River.

↑Head in the opposite direction (west), and you’ll pass Rupinas Child Development Support Center, Tsuchiya Liquor Store, Gin-no-Sara Ashiya, and other businesses before entering Higashinada Ward in Kobe, where Selva Konan Yamate is located.

↑Across the street are businesses including the antique art shop Hata Kobijutsu.

Final Thoughts

↑They were also selling the “Suki Shake Roasted Sweet Potato”, which has generated buzz on social media for being “a surprisingly high-quality shake from a gyudon restaurant.” The crunchy crushed imo-kenpi sweet potato sticks on top added a nice contrast—I felt like I could drink it forever.
