What will be happening?
- New rice offering ceremony — Giving thanks to the gods for this year’s abundant harvest
- Talk by Chief Priest Yamanishi — A talk about the gods and rice culture
- Uchide danjiri festival music
- Making charms from rice ears — Make an “Inahorai” charm using ears of rice (priority will be given to children)
- Rice-themed games and rice bran promotion — Scoop up new rice, pick up grains with chopsticks, guess the weight of one go of rice, and more
- Kamado rice cooking and onigiri-making experience — Cook rice and make onigiri together with the Boy Scouts
- Seido Junior High School Choir concert
- Market area — Freshly harvested “Silky Rice,” vegetables, rice-flour bread, rice-flour cookies, and more
- “Favorite Deity” drawing contest for elementary school students

Finally
This will be the third Ashiya Rice Festival. It looks like visitors will be able to enjoy all kinds of rice-related activities while savoring onigiri made with freshly harvested rice. Seasonal vegetables and regional specialties will also be coming from Shiga and Tamba, so there should be plenty of autumn flavors besides rice to enjoy!
