Yesterday, September 17, a pre-event for the Autumn National Road Safety Campaign was held in front of JR Ashiya Station, with former professional baseball player Kosuke Fukudome serving as police chief for the day!
Autumn Road Safety Campaign Pre-Event: Kosuke Fukudome Serves as Police Chief for the Day

↑ The appointment ceremony was held on the Ashiya Takasho Deck (pedestrian deck) in front of the station.

↑ The Hyogo Prefectural Police Band also put on a musical performance. Through music and dance—including a “Super Mario Medley,” “Donguri Korokoro,” and Miyuki Nakajima’s “Ito”—they shared important messages about road safety!

↑ During M!LK’s “Suki Sugite Metsu!”, they perfectly nailed the signature “Metsu!” pose too!

↑ After the ceremony, everyone moved to the front of Hotel Takezono for a commemorative photo.

↑ After that, a parade made its way on foot around Hotel Takezono and the Laporte Main Building!

↑ We got to see Fukudome up close!

↑ After the parade, road safety awareness items were handed out in front of Ashiya Takezono.

↑ Along with an awareness flyer, each pack contained some snacks and a wet wipe. It seems there were several different varieties available—but, of course, there was a strict limit of one per person!

↑ To wrap things up, commemorative photos were taken of Fukudome sitting astride a police motorcycle!

↑ He then spoke to a group of reporters. Great job as police chief for the day!
In Closing
As the days grow shorter—especially during winter—it is recommended that cyclists turn on their lights earlier and that pedestrians wear reflective materials, along with taking other safety precautions. Stay safe on the roads, everyone!
