What the Fallen Japanese Hackberry Looked Like (Photos Taken May 7, 2026)

↑When we visited the site, we found keep-out signs and traffic cones in place.

↑There was also a notice saying that the tree would be removed soon. After all, Golden Week had only just ended.

↑It looks like removal work has already begun, with the branches being cut into smaller pieces.

↑You can also see where the thick trunk has been cut.

↑It looks like the tree snapped at the base. It could have caused serious harm if it had hit someone…

↑You can see playground equipment in the background. We’re truly glad that none of the children visiting the park were hurt.

The fallen Japanese hackberry was more than 10 meters tall and apparently showed no obvious signs that it was about to fall. It can be difficult to spot a dangerous tree, but it’s worth being especially cautious on windy days…
