I visited the pastry shop “patisserie plein” (Patisserie Plein), about a 4-minute walk from JR Ashiya Station.
Three Types of Sablé from “patisserie plein”
Left: “Lapin” 220 yen (tax included)
Center: “Hérisson” 180 yen (tax included)
Right: “Pomme” 180 yen (tax included)
They all look so cute that I bought them for their appearance alone!
The rabbit-shaped “Lapin” is a vanilla-flavored sablé coated in sweet milk chocolate.
The crisp cookie wrapped in smooth, sweet chocolate has a flavor that children would probably love too.
The hedgehog-shaped “Hérisson” is a sablé with chestnuts and walnuts.
The spiky part is sprinkled with poppy seeds, and together with the nuts inside, it has a distinct toasty aroma.
As its apple shape suggests, the “Pomme” is an apple-flavored sablé with apple pieces inside.
The fruit pieces are dried fruit. Every sablé is crisp and has a rich buttery flavor.
They look so adorable, almost like something out of a picture book, so they would make a lovely gift!

On the second floor is its sister shop, “chocolaterie plein” (Chocolaterie Plein). It seems they also offer eat-in seating, though there are only four seats.
