From the evening of August 9 through the morning of August 10, a monkey was reportedly spotted in Sanjo-cho and Iwazono-cho in Ashiya City, and three wild boars were seen in Asahigaoka-cho!
Monkey Sightings in Sanjo-cho & Iwazono-cho

First, at around 6:15 p.m. on August 9, one monkey was spotted in Sanjo-cho.

↑It’s a long, narrow town stretching north to south, with Sanjo Park and Sanjo Hachiman Shrine to the south, and Ashiya Municipal Yamate Junior High School and the Ege-no-yama Ruins to the north. The nearest station is Hankyu Ashiyagawa Station.

Later, at around 8:15 a.m. on August 10, one monkey was also spotted in Iwazono-cho.

↑In addition to Ikari Ashiya supermarket, Nakanike Green Space, Iwagahira Park, and Iwazono Tenjin Shrine, the area also has educational facilities for young children, such as Ashiya Municipal Iwazono Elementary School and Iwazono Kindergarten.
Iwazono-cho and Sanjo-cho are about 2 km apart east to west, so the monkey may have moved during the night. Hankyu Ashiyagawa Station and residential areas lie between them, so it’s especially worrying to think about children, elderly residents, or pets possibly being attacked…
Three Wild Boars Spotted in Asahigaoka-cho

In Asahigaoka-cho, three wild boars were spotted along a road at around 8:45 p.m. on August 9. Since there were three of them together, they may have been a parent and young.

↑The area includes Ashiya Municipal Hospital and Ashiya Municipal Asahigaoka Elementary School, and nearby Yamate-cho is also home to Konan Senior and Junior High School. It seems like many people may walk along the roads for hospital visits or school commutes, so this is concerning.
