[2024] Scenes from the Ashiya Summer Carnival Venue and Around Ashiya City

Yesterday, Saturday, July 27, we went all out with Ashiya Tsushin to cover the venue and the city on the day of the “46th Ashiya Summer Carnival”!

In this first article, we’ll show you what it was like before the fireworks began! In the second article, scheduled to be posted around this evening, we’ll share photos and videos of the fireworks, so stay tuned!

Scenes Inside the “Ashiya Summer Carnival” Venue Before the Fireworks

↑At Shimin Hiroba, there were lots of food stalls lined up! Apparently, about 20 vendors had stalls there.

↑Shaved ice, yakisoba, chilled pineapple, cheese sticks, and more. Everything looked so tempting!

↑After entering, you received a wristband, and you could come and go by showing it when re-entering.

↑This is what Shio-Ashiya Beach in the east area looked like. Since it was still light out, the atmosphere was pretty relaxed.

↑Everyone was spreading leisure sheets on the sandy beach and waiting for the fireworks.

↑As fireworks time gradually got closer, more and more people started gathering around the food stall area!

↑The crowd had grown quite a bit, and it really felt like the big moment was almost here! (Look forward to the next update for photos and videos of the fireworks!)

Scenes Around Ashiya City on the Day of the “Ashiya Summer Carnival”

↑At “Seven-Eleven JR Ashiya Ekimae Store”, located right outside the south exit of JR Ashiya Station, it looked like they were holding events such as yo-yo fishing in front of the store during the day.

↑Apparently, this shop was the only place where you could buy “Ashiya Summer Carnival” tickets directly at a physical store! Same-day tickets were also being sold here.

↑Here’s the scene in front of Hanshin Ashiya Station, where security staff were stationed. People getting off the train were streaming past the side of City Hall and heading toward Ashiyahama!

↑Vehicle traffic was restricted like this from the south side of the Naruo-Mikage Line / Ashiya Police Station intersection.

↑We also saw people in yukata walking along the Ashiya River riverbed toward the river mouth.

↑At “Higashiyama Park” in Higashiyama-cho, the “Higashiyama-cho Neighborhood Association Summer Festival: Fireworks Viewing & Hana Toro” was also being held on the same day!

↑The park itself is like a small hill, and the view is amazing like this, so the fireworks must have been easy to see from there.

↑Inside the park, there were also “Hana Toro” lanterns that high school students from “Ashiya-bu” helped create. They are apparently lit every day from 18:00 to 22:00 until after the Obon holiday, so if you’re nearby, be sure to go take a look!

Finally

The second article, a special feature with fireworks photos and videos, is scheduled to be posted around this evening!

Your photo might appear in the feature article above!? We’re currently looking for fireworks photos taken on the day of the “Ashiya Summer Carnival” from the venue, your home, a park, or anywhere else, from Ashitsuu readers!

It’s totally OK if the photo didn’t come out perfectly, is blurry, or only shows a little bit of the fireworks! Please send them through the “Information Submission Form”!
