What are “nickname roads”?

A total of 27 “nickname roads” have been designated around the city with the aim of helping people feel more attached to the familiar roads they use every day, supporting beautiful city planning, and making streets easier for visitors to understand.
Apparently, the nicknames were chosen from suggestions submitted by Ashiya residents in Heisei 11 (1999) and Reiwa 2 (2020).

The nickname road list also includes photos of the signs, but the three newest ones, “Marine Road,” “Suzukaze-dori,” and “Yamate Road,” were still listed as “scheduled for installation,” and no photos or sign locations had been posted yet.
This time, Ashitsuu was able to photograph the “Yamate Road” signs, but we still haven’t gotten photos of “Marine Road” or “Suzukaze-dori”〜! If you live nearby and spot one of the nickname signs, please send a photo to Ashiya Tsushin!!
