“Let’s Meet Under the Cherry Blossoms,” an event where Chaya Sakura-dori will become a pedestrian paradise for one day only, will apparently be held on Sunday, March 31, from 11:00 to 18:00! *Held in light rain

Held to coincide with cherry blossom season, this event is expected to make about the northern half of Chaya Sakura-dori closed to vehicle traffic (pedestrian-only). During the event, buses that usually pass through here will be rerouted, so please note that buses will not stop at the Chayanomachi bus stop.
On Chaya Sakura-dori, starting at 11:00, an opening event will include the “Hikime no Gi,” a ritual in which a whistling arrow called a kaburaya is shot to drive away evil spirits. There will also apparently be a cherry blossom viewing tent set up by the Chayanomachi Neighborhood Association.

↑ In connection with the event, at Miyazuka Park on the east side, there will apparently be a coffee kitchen trailer by “ASHIYA CITY COFFEE” and hand and head massages by “MoonLeaf ashiya.”

↑ The cherry blossoms at Miyazuka Park are beautiful every year, aren’t they?

↑ At Omasu Park on the west side, “danjiri bayashi” festival music by the Nakanomachi danjiri group will be performed, and there will also apparently be a chance to try the danjiri instruments plus potatoes and drinks for sale!

↑ Chaya Sakura-dori is known for its stunning cherry blossom tunnel every year, but this year you’ll actually be able to walk right down the middle of the road and take photos. That sounds too exciting! It seems like you’ll be able to capture some incredibly photogenic views that are hard to get on a normal day.
While you’re at it, it would be great to visit the nearby cherry blossom spots too and fully enjoy spring!
Future information about the “Let’s Meet Under the Cherry Blossoms” event will be posted on the official Instagram account of the organizer, “Ashiya Area Platform (Ashiya AP)”. Be sure to check it out!
