If you draw a “bad luck” fortune at Ashiya Shrine, apparently you can take it to Tanaka Kinseido, a specialty okaki and senbei rice cracker shop in Ogimasu-cho along the Naruo-Mikage Line, and get a 500 yen gift certificate!

I wondered, “Do people really draw ‘bad luck’ fortunes that often?” but they told us, “Quite a few people come in with them!” I only draw omikuji once in a while, so I never noticed, but it seems “bad luck” fortunes are more common than you’d think…!
This is such a nice campaign because even if you draw a “bad luck” fortune, you don’t have to feel disappointed (it might actually be a big win!?)

↑The exterior of “Tanaka Kinseido.” It’s a long-established shop near the intersection of the Naruo-Mikage Line and Ashiya Hondori.

↑Here’s what it looks like inside. The shelves are lined with an incredible variety of senbei and okaki. It’s amazing that everything is handmade in the shop!

↑They have wheat flour-based crackers like kawara senbei and tansan senbei, plus snack-style options like cheese okaki and curry okaki. (I, Fuko, got hooked on the slightly spicy curry okaki!)
