With the warm weather over the past few days, the cherry blossoms (Somei Yoshino) around Ashiya City have reached their peak, and they’ll likely be almost in full bloom by the weekend! Here are some cherry blossom photos taken yesterday, March 30.
↑ These are the cherry blossoms at Tsuji Park in Tsuchicho. The row of cherry trees along the road on the north side is stunning every year.
↑ It’s a park where you’ll see lots of people enjoying cherry blossom viewing with their children.
↑ This is the area around Kawanishicho on “Sakura-dori.” Depending on the tree, the upper branches still have some buds, but the lower branches are blooming quite a lot and are at their best.
↑ This is also on “Sakura-dori,” around Maedacho. The north side is blooming beautifully too!
↑ The cherry blossoms are also blooming at “Tsukiwaka Park” in Tsukiwakacho along the Ashiya River.

↑ The riverbed along the Ashiya River is lively even on weekdays with people enjoying cherry blossom viewing.
↑ The venue for the “Ashiya Sakura Festival,” held this weekend on Sunday, April 2, is around here. It looks like visitors will be welcomed by fully blooming cherry blossoms!
↑ “Chaya Sakura-dori,” where you can enjoy a wonderful cherry blossom tunnel every year, is also almost in full bloom!
↑ Around the western end of the row of cherry trees along the Naruo-Mikage Line in Kawanishicho, the blossoms were bursting out in full bloom to just starting to fall.
↑ It’s a little sad that they’ll start falling from here, but the fluttering petals and carpets of cherry blossoms are beautiful too.
