We visited nogihen, a shop specializing in baked sweets made with spices and herbs, which opened on August 27 near Ashiya Onsen in Kurekawa-cho!

↑Here’s what they look like out of the bags! Every one is packed with spices and herbs!
↑The “Cacao Nib, Cranberry, and Sichuan Pepper Cookie” brings together the bitterness of cacao nibs, the tartness of cranberries, and Sichuan pepper! It’s an incredibly distinctive cookie where every flavor hits hard! This could get addictive!
↑The “Peach, Earl Grey, and Cardamom Traybake” is a cake filled with Earl Grey tea leaves and peaches marinated with cardamom! It would go perfectly with tea!
↑The “Japanese Citrus Mix and Sage Weekend Cake” is a petite cake made with three kinds of Japanese citrus, kabosu, sudachi, and hebesu, plus the herb sage! The refreshing Japanese-style tartness and bitterness are flavors you won’t find just anywhere!

↑The shop is on the second floor of this building, which has places like “BAKERY＆CAFE Rios” on the first floor.
↑There’s a sign at the far left when facing the building, and on opening day a notice like this was posted.
↓The entrance is a little hard to figure out, so check the opening article for detailed directions to the shop!
↑They sell a wide variety of baked goods, including cookies, cakes, granola, and scones.
↑For a while after opening, the shop is takeout only, but they’re planning to offer eat-in service eventually!
