At the 3rd-floor event space in Mont et Mer, the shopping mall directly connected to JR Ashiya Station, French imported food shop “L’Accent” from Kobe Okamoto is open as a limited-time pop-up until Sunday, April 20!

At the special sales area, they’re selling “sweets imported directly from France, including L’Accent’s original honey canelés carefully crafted by the French owner, French confitures, and more”.

We tried L’Accent’s “Honey Canelés.”
We bought L’Accent’s original “Honey Canelés,” imported directly from France!
From the left, the flavors are “Caramelized Honey,” “Vanilla,” and “Amazake,” each priced at 300 yen including tax.
↑Each one is fairly large and satisfyingly filling!
According to the shop staff, “We definitely recommend warming them up before eating!” About 20 seconds in the microwave should do the trick!
↑Here’s what they look like inside! They all have a moist exterior and a pleasantly chewy texture.
↑My personal favorite, Fuuko’s pick, was this “Amazake” one! The amazake flavor isn’t too strong, but it somehow has a Japanese-style taste, with a gentle egg-and-caramel flavor that feels a bit like castella from a traditional wagashi shop.
Final Thoughts
It’s great that you can casually pick them up right by the station now, and since the main shop is in Okamoto, you can always make a short trip there if you end up liking them!
Besides canelés, there were also plenty of other tasty-looking sweets and confitures on display!
