While walking along National Route 43, I came across a small open space called “Nangu Hiroba”. Huh? A small open space?

Hmm, even after walking farther in, it still didn’t seem very wide… and then
“Kyuru-kyuru-kyuru…”
I heard a chirping sound!
…!? Is that…! There are Japanese white-eyes!! (They have white rings around their eyes, so they’re white-eyes, not bush warblers.)
And there are two of them! (top left and bottom right of the photo) Maybe they’re a pair?
Ahhh! So cute!! I started snapping photos, but they flew off right away. Sorry for making a fuss…!
It’s a truly compact little open space along Route 43, but if you look closely, you’ll see all kinds of plants growing there.
The Japanese white-eyes were in the fig tree near the front right after entering. It’s small, but it’s a lovely little spot where you can feel close to nature!
