The izakaya “Tori no George Hanshin Ashiya Ekimae,” which used to occupy the 2nd and 3rd floors of the bookstore “Ashiya Hoseikan” in front of Hanshin Ashiya Station, appears to have quietly closed.
The 2nd and 3rd floors are completely empty now…
Of course, the shutters are down too. The restaurant’s name has also disappeared from the directory sign.

Area around “Tori no George Hanshin Ashiya Ekimae”
It’s located along the Okuyama-Seido Line. If you go this way (south), “Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Ashiya Branch” is next door, Hanshin Ashiya Station is just beyond that, and across the railroad crossing you’ll find Ashiya City Hall and other facilities.
If you head the other way (north), “Roggen Meyer Hanshin Ashiya” is next door, and beyond that are Ashiya Police Station and “Henri Charpentier Ashiya Main Store”, among others.
Across the street is the supermarket “Pantry Ashiya.”
In closing
Looking at the official website of Monteroza Co., Ltd., it seems that “Tori no George” now has only one location left in Hyogo Prefecture: the “Suzurandai Higashiguchi Ekimae” branch…!
Will another Monteroza Group concept move in next, or will they pull out altogether…? It’s a tricky spot with a narrow frontage, but hopefully a nice shop takes over!
