When I visited “Maeda Park” in Maedacho, it turned out to be a park that was really all about stone.
First of all, even the sign at the entrance is made of stone.
I was thinking it had a pretty subdued, old-school feel overall… and when I took a closer look,
there was a stone lantern. (Are stone lanterns in parks… a normal thing…?)
Over there too.
And here too…!
Just seeing one would be surprising enough, but a park with stone lanterns all over the place is kind of amazing!
And it’s not just the stone lanterns.
Even the slide is stone!
The monkey bars? Those are stone too!
So yes, it was a seriously stone-filled park.
When I looked it up later, I found out this park is apparently the site of an archaeological ruin called the “Maeda Site”. Maybe the idea is, ruins mean stone structures!?
It seems like a nice place to think about history while taking in the garden and playground equipment.
