We tried takeout from the sandwich specialty shop “Au Bon Sandwich Bigot” near JR Ashiya Station!
“Au Bon Sandwich Bigot’s” “Croque Madame”

“Croque Madame” 324 yen (tax included)

It’s a hot sandwich meant to be toasted before eating. There’s plenty of butter on the surface!

I didn’t feel like using the toaster, so I grilled it in a frying pan instead. That buttery aroma was so good.
The best-before date was about three days including the day of purchase, so it would also be great for breakfast the next morning!

It toasted up golden and fragrant. The filling inside was melty, too!

According to Wikipedia, “Croque Madame” can refer to one of the variations of a croque monsieur:
- A croque monsieur (basically bread with ham and cheese in between, then toasted) topped with a fried egg
- A sandwich filled with chicken in cream sauce
It seems the term can refer to either of those.
This “Croque Madame” seems to be the latter. There’s definitely a generous amount of chicken inside!
