We went to the Ashiyahama Summer Festival, held on July 25 at Ashiya Central Park in Wakabacho along the Rinko Line!
Ashiyahama Summer Festival at Ashiya Central Park: Event Report

This annual event, organized by the Ashiyahama Residents’ Association, is a community-run summer festival lovingly put together by local residents. It was held on the park’s grassy field.

Here’s what the venue looked like at around 5:00 p.m. Quite a few people had already arrived, and the festival was starting to come alive.

There were food trucks at the venue, as well as…

Plenty of classic festival stalls.

The shooting-gallery stall had a really authentic, old-fashioned feel to it!

The tents lining the north side also featured lots of stalls run by organizations and businesses from Ashiya and the surrounding area! In fact, this was really the main attraction of the festival.

We even found yakisoba for just 200 yen! It was being sold at the Wakaba Kodomo Shokudo booth and is apparently so popular that it sells out every year.
There were plenty of other incredible bargains too, including three yakitori skewers for 300 yen and ice cream for just 50 yen each. With prices rising everywhere these days, it was hard to believe how affordable everything was!

Here’s the 200-yen yakisoba. It was packed with ingredients and even topped with pickled red ginger, aonori seaweed, and fish powder!

It was so good that we almost wanted to ask, “Are you sure this is only 200 yen?” No wonder it sells out every year!

We also tried the 500-yen roast pork sold next to the yakisoba. This was another very generous serving!

The meat was incredibly moist and tender! The sauce was delicious too—it was so good that we wanted to buy some to take home as a dinner dish!
Apparently, this roast pork is a specialty of 「キッチンデリ ルー」 in Nakazakicho, Osaka. Now we want to visit the restaurant too!

The festival headquarters tent and a stage were set up on the south side of the venue.

It looks like the program included cheer dance, a wind ensemble, laughter yoga, and a performance by enka singer Chinami Akimoto.

At the prize drawing, people won items such as yakiniku sets, assorted juice sets, and puffy stickers!

As the sun began to set, more and more people poured into the venue.

Some stalls even had very long lines. We hope this lively and much-loved community festival continues for many years to come!
