A Ginkgo Sapling from the Osaka Kansai Expo Is Being Planted in Ashiya

It looks like a sapling grown from a ginkgo tree that was planted at last year’s Osaka-Kansai Expo will be planted in Ashiya〜

The parent tree is said to be the ginkgo that was planted as the symbol tree for the pavilion “Dialogue Theater – Sign of Life –,” produced by filmmaker Naomi Kawase.

Naomi Kawase directed the film “Tashika ni Atta Maboroshi”, which was shot on location in Ashiya, and it seems the decision to plant the sapling in Ashiya came about through a commemorative event for the film’s release.

By the way, the parent ginkgo tree was originally planted at a closed school in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture, and after the Expo it was transplanted to Izumisano City, Osaka Prefecture〜

↑ It’s not a large park, but it has a calm, relaxing atmosphere surrounded by greenery.

↑ Right now, various plants such as bamboo and azaleas are planted there. Once the ginkgo tree is added, the seasonal scenery should become even more lively.

The address is Geo Grande Ashiya Midorigaoka, 12-7 Midorigaoka-cho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.

A tree-planting ceremony for the sapling will apparently be held on Saturday, June 20. It would be nice if this ginkgo tree helps spark even more “dialogue” going forward〜
