Here’s an update on the relocation of the Jizo statue beside the rotary along Ekimae-dori near JR Ashiya Station, between “Alpa Ashiya” and “La Rive Ashiya.”
↑Back in March this year, due to the removal work on the “Daiichi Kosenkyo” overpass, the small shrine housing the Jizo statue was moved from the back of the rotary on the left side of the image to a spot right near the rotary entrance on the right side…
↑Here’s how it looks now. The shrine that housed the Jizo statue has been relocated, but the area around it is currently blocked off with wooden boards.
↑A notice posted on the boards. It says that the “little monkey” that had been with the Jizo statue is being temporarily kept safe.
According to the person who made this notice, after asking City Hall about it, it seems that only the shrine itself has been temporarily moved to this spot, and the Jizo statue inside will return together with it when it is moved back to its original location at the back of the rotary around Reiwa 10.
For a while, it will feel a little lonely with just the empty shrine here, but once the construction is finished and it returns, it will surely watch over everyone in the neighborhood again. It’s also good to know the little monkey was helped by a kind person!
