It’s been getting attention that Shohei Ohtani of the MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers was apparently wearing a brooch made by a jewelry brand from Ashiya City〜

The brooch he wore on his chest on the red carpet before the All-Star Game in Atlanta, Georgia, is said to possibly be from Ashiya City jewelry brand “Gimel”.
(It’s not that Ohtani personally requested it or said so himself, but even a representative from Gimel apparently thinks it’s probably theirs.)

Gimel is a jewelry brand with a workshop in Okuikecho, Ashiya City, creating jewelry inspired by “the changing seasons of Japan.”
The piece Ohtani is believed to have worn is one of the brand’s “Bee Series,” which has been around since Gimel’s early days. It’s shaped like a honeycomb and apparently costs around 360,000 yen〜
Some people are guessing he may have chosen a honeycomb brooch because the host state, Georgia, is known for honey. Pretty stylish!

The Okuike workshop does not sell products directly, but Gimel items are apparently sold on consignment at department stores and other locations. Nearby, it looks like they’re available on the 8th floor of Daimaru Kobe〜
