We Went to the 2024 Danjiri Parade and Ashiya Autumn Festival on Ashiya Hondori

Shachobi went to the “Danjiri Parade” on Ashiya Hon-dori and the “Ashiya Autumn Festival” at Omasu Park and Chaya Park, held yesterday, October 13〜

A Look at the “Danjiri Parade” on Ashiya Hon-dori

The “Danjiri Parade” is the climax event of Ashiya’s danjiri festival, where danjiri floats from six districts across Ashiya gather on Ashiya Hon-dori!

↑Unique danjiri floats from each district lined up, and each one performed its “neri” display one by one. At the end, they all gave a simultaneous bow before wrapping up〜

↑Before the parade began, Mayor Takashima gave a greeting〜

↑After the greeting, the mayor rode on a danjiri again this year! Looks like this might become an annual tradition〜

↑Each district seems to have its own signature performance. In Yamanomachi, the person on the roof was leaning way back〜

↑Uchide had big crackers going off from the roof, making everything bright and sparkly〜

↑The Hamanomachi danjiri is apparently celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Congratulations〜!

↑The Nakanomachi danjiri changed its name this year from “Seido” to “Nakanomachi.” They had celebration banners up〜

↑Danjiri calendars were also on sale〜

↑Seeing them up close really is impressive!

A Look at the “Ashiya Autumn Festival” at Omasu Park and Chaya Park

↑The “Ashiya Autumn Festival” is an autumn festival event held at Omasu Park and Chaya Park! There were lots of food stalls, plus a raffle, mochi pounding, and more〜

↑A quick photo in front of the “Ashiya-shi Hon-dori Shotenkai” booth with Mayor Takashima and members of the shopping association! They were selling items like gyoza from “Bar Karma”, mini eel rice bowls from “Miyoshi”, and onigiri from “Ashiya Chaya”

↑At the “Hama Ashiya Shokokai” booth, the bar “Ashiya Nikki” was selling its specialty beef curry and jumbo sausages!

↑Looks so good〜! It really feels like autumn appetite season〜

↑At the “Hotel Takezono Ashiya Meitenkai” booth, Takezono croquettes, beef bowls, and minced cutlets were being sold at special autumn festival prices〜

↑This booth had some intriguing items with unusual names, like “sweet shrimp soy milk croquettes” and “mosa shrimp fries.” We’re curious〜

↑Here they had something called the “AWAJISHIMA Fisherman’s Burger”! It’s apparently a burger featuring seasonal fried fish with Awaji Island onions and tartar sauce〜

↑The fact that you can choose from so many kinds of fish is seriously impressive! They even had hamo and sea bream〜!

↑This was apparently Awaji Island Milk’s island stew. A big pot full of it, and this looked delicious too〜

↑It wasn’t listed on the advance flyer, but mochi pounding was held again this year! It’s hugely popular every year〜

↑The “Ashiya Construction Industry Association” was selling drinks〜

↑The “Ashiya City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Youth Division” had a shooting gallery for kids at Chaya Park〜. Chaya Park is bustling with families every year too!

Finally

The Autumn Festival and Danjiri Parade were packed with people again this year and full of energy. We hope they continue as annual traditions for many years to come〜!

By the way, Mayor Takashima, who took a photo with Shachobi, apparently said he “watches both Ashitsuu and Nishitsuu all the time!” Ashiya Tsushin is even watched by the mayor, so we’ll keep putting our all into sharing more and more Ashiya information〜!
