Cherry blossoms (Somei Yoshino) have started blooming here and there around Ashiya City〜 (photos taken yesterday evening, 3/29)
↓In last year’s article, they were nearly in full bloom as of March 30, so this year’s blossoms are opening quite slowly.
Cherry Trees Along Sakura-dori and the Naruo-Mikage Line in Kawanishi-cho
In Kawanishi-cho, there are rows of cherry trees along “Sakura-dori” and the “Naruo-Mikage Line”〜
↑Among them, the cherry trees on the west side of the Naruo-Mikage Line (near the city border with Kobe) tend to bloom early every year. A few blossoms were open on each tree〜
↑On Sakura-dori, it still felt like only a small number of trees had started blooming.
↑This cherry tree along the Naruo-Mikage Line east of Sakura-dori (beside Kawanishi Sports Ground) had its thick trunk protruding onto the sidewalk cut back in 2021, but it was blooming properly again this year〜
↑It feels like this one has more blossoms open than the other trees!
Cherry Trees Along Chaya Sakura-dori in Chayanomachi
↑On Chaya Sakura-dori, I get the impression that the north side starts blooming earlier than the south side every year〜
↑Many of the trees around the area with lots of shops on the north side had started blooming!
↑On Chaya Sakura-dori, the event “Let’s Meet Under the Cherry Blossoms” will be held tomorrow, March 31 (Sun.) from 11:00 to 18:00. During the event, about the northern half of the street is scheduled to become a pedestrian zone (closed to vehicle traffic)〜
It looks like this weekend will be quite warm, so hopefully the blossoms will keep opening〜!
Cherry Trees Along Narihira Sakura-dori by the Ashiya River in Narihira-cho
↑The row of cherry trees along Narihira Sakura-dori by the Ashiya River seemed to be blooming a little later compared with the other cherry-lined streets〜
↑If you look really closely, you might spot a lone blossom up near the top… maybe… That’s about the level of bloom right now.
The “Ashiya Sakura Festival”, held on the east side of the Ashiya River, is scheduled for April 7 (Sun.) this year, so if the warm weather helps the blossoms along, they might be just about in full bloom by then〜
Finally
↑There isn’t a row of cherry trees on “Ashiya Hondori” near Hanshin Ashiya Station, but on the bulletin board, cherry blossom drawings by the children are on display as the “Seido Kodomoen Hondori Museum”! So cute〜!
