Along the Ashiyagawa River, near the foot of Narihira Bridge, I took a closer look at a recently built building and noticed cannons sticking out of the wall.
And there are four of them.
…Those are cannons, right…?
They’re pointed toward Kobe, so maybe the building is armed to prevent an invasion. (Strong.)
Even up close, they really do look like tubes that could fire something.
If tanks ever came rolling in from Kobe along Route 2, these look like they’d start blasting.
A building called “Ghost Castle Ashiya BLDG.”
This building is called “Ghost Castle Ashiya BLDG.,” and it looks like the first floor houses an antique interior shop called “Kobe Antique Warehouse.”
Unfortunately, it’s closed during the state of emergency. Once it reopens, I’d love to take a peek inside and see what kind of shop it is!
It’s hard to see because of the window reflection, but there were some unusual items inside, like a carousel horse and what looked like a huge treasure chest.
By the way, the back side…
On the side opposite the cannons, there aren’t any cannons, and even though it’s a new building, the wall has been finished to look worn and crumbling.
There seems to be some kind of particular concept behind it…
