A Luxurious 4th Anniversary Sushi Lunch at Sushi Takeshita Near Hanshin Ashiya Station in Seidocho [Ashitsuu Gourmet PR]

I went to try the lunch course at “鮨 竹下” in Seidocho, which celebrated its 4th anniversary in October!

The Lunch Course at “鮨 竹下”

This time, I had the 5,500 yen (tax included) lunch course!

First came the appetizer plate: in the back was “Bozu-goroshi,” mozuku seaweed from Tottori Prefecture (!?), with mizunasu eggplant ohitashi on the front left and salt-boiled peanuts on the right.

“Bozu-goroshi” is quite a shocking name, but once you try it, the firm stickiness and satisfying bite become totally addictive! Apparently, it’s a rare type of mozuku that can only be harvested in certain parts of the San’in region.

The first piece of nigiri was “hirame” (flounder). It was topped with green onion marinated in ponzu!

The second piece was “kinmedai” (splendid alfonsino)! The skin had been seared, giving it such a fragrant aroma.

The third piece was “nishin” (herring) from Hokkaido! I usually think of herring in dishes like soba, so it felt pretty rare to have it as sushi!

The thick-cut herring had a melting texture and a lovely ginger aroma that worked perfectly together!

The fourth piece was marinated “sawara” (Spanish mackerel). This also had a melt-in-your-mouth texture, with a refreshing hint of yuzu.

The fifth piece was “kamasu” (barracuda)! The seared skin was aromatic, and even though the fish was thick, it somehow melted away in my mouth…!

The sixth piece was marinated lean tuna. After the sharp kick of wasabi, the rich flavor of the tuna follows right behind.

Then came a seasonal dish: “shihouchiku,” a type of bamboo shoot harvested only for a short time in autumn!

It really looks like “bamboo,” which was a bit surprising at first, but it had a pleasant texture and was nicely infused with dashi, making it light and refreshing.

This looked like a stylish cocktail in a glass, but actually…

Under the ikura and sweet shrimp was sushi rice! So this is proper sushi too. Too stylish!

The eighth piece was sushi with plump, warm “unagi”. The sweet sauce and fluffy eel were so comforting.

After also enjoying “kanpyo-maki” and “tamago”

The course finished with “osuimono” soup containing a huge clam from Hokkaido! I thought it was a hamaguri clam!

At the counter seats, you can enjoy the course while watching the sushi being made right in front of you and hearing about the day’s ingredients and preparation methods! It was a thoroughly satisfying lunch course from start to finish!
