Here’s a map of Hiratacho↓
↑It’s in the southwest part of Ashiya City, along the border with Higashinada Ward, Kobe City. It also borders the Ashiya River.
↓On June 23, a raccoon was spotted at “Takarajimaike Park,” just west of Ashiya City Gymnasium.
Did it come from Takarajimaike Park, cross the city border, go over Route 43, and make its way to Hiratacho…!?

↑Or maybe it first came to the Ashiya River and then headed downstream along the river…? Since it’s on the west bank of the Ashiya River, this route might be more likely than crossing Route 43.
Raccoons can bite or scratch if you get too close carelessly. If you come across one, don’t provoke it, and leave the area quickly!
Added 7/3: Ashitsuu reader Ryo-chan sent us information and photos suggesting, “Could it be a badger rather than a raccoon?”
