A congratulatory banner for Takakesho, who won the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament, was up at Ashiya City Hall near Hanshin Ashiya Station!

↑ Above the front entrance of the North Building at Ashiya City Hall…

↑ A banner reading “Congratulations on Your Victory, Takakesho” is displayed jointly by Ashiya City and the Ashiya City Board of Education.

↑ The same banner is also at the pedestrian crossing northwest of City Hall!

↑ You can see it clearly from Hanshin Ashiya Station, too. If you’re taking the Hanshin Railway toward Kobe, try looking to the south from the platform.

Takakesho is from Ashiya City, and in 2019 he became an “Ashiya Furusato Ambassador”!
This was his third championship, his first since the November 2020 tournament, and his first since getting married. Apparently, his child was also born recently, so there has been a string of happy news!
