At the special arena inside the “Ashiya City Youth Center” in Kawanishi-cho, the charity event “Relay For Life Japan 2022 Ashiya,” held to support cancer patients and fight cancer, will reportedly take place from 12:00 noon tomorrow, Saturday, September 3, until around 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 4.

The event was originally scheduled to be held at Kawanishi Sports Ground, but due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, it will instead be held at the special arena inside the Youth Center.

Event Details for “Relay For Life Japan 2022 Ashiya”
On the day of the event, programs will include creating and lighting “Luminaria Bags” bearing messages from cancer survivors, caregivers who support them and bereaved family members, and supporters who cheer them on. Other planned programs include a Relay Walk (priority for advance entries), Relay Run (advance entry required), creating Survivor Flags and Caregiver Flags, hair donation (registration already closed), and talks by people who have experienced cancer.

In Closing
For the past two years, the event was scaled down due to the spread of COVID-19, and last year it was held as an online-only event. This year, however, it is scheduled to be held at the Youth Center with on-site attendance limited to 200 people.
