It looks like the cleaning shop “カワキ屋クリーニング” will be closing its “Ashiya Ekimae branch” and “Ashiya Higashiyama branch” on Sunday, September 4.

↑ A “Notice of Closure” was posted on the shop door. The final day for accepting items is August 21, and the final pickup day (closing day) is September 4.
Since the entire “カワキ屋クリーニング店” chain is withdrawing from its cleaning services for individual customers, the two branches in Ashiya, Ashiya Ekimae and Ashiya Higashiyama, will be closing. (Some locations will continue operating under a different chain.)

↑ If you go this way (west), you’ll find places like the izakaya “鳥貴族 芦屋店” and “さくら眼科.”
↑ If you go the other way (east), there are places like “焼肉 はなな” and the steakhouse “Jackson’s Market,” and it leads to the area in front of JR Ashiya Station.

↑ If you go this way (east), you’ll find the Japanese sweets shop “芦屋樂膳 芦屋東山店” and “芦屋東山郵便局.” Past the intersection with Miyagawa Keyaki-dori, there is the supermarket “いかり 芦屋店.”
↑ If you go the other way (west), you’ll find “グランドフードホール 芦屋” and “芦屋軒 東山ガーデン店,” a Kobe beef and Tajima beef specialty shop.

Final Thoughts
According to “エキテン”, there seem to be 52 cleaning shops in Ashiya City. You really do see them everywhere when walking around town!
It’s a shame that both branches in Ashiya City are closing, but both are in good locations with lots of shops nearby, so I hope something new opens there after they close!
