We heard that the early-blooming Kawazu-zakura cherry blossoms at “Higashiyama Park” in Higashiyama-cho were about to reach their best viewing period, so we went to take a look!

↑ This is the cherry tree in the park’s “Kodomo Hiroba” children’s plaza, which was blooming the most beautifully that day.
It was in full, gorgeous bloom, but there still seemed to be plenty of buds left! Looks like we’ll be able to enjoy them for a while.
The contrast with the blue sky is lovely too.
They’re so vibrant and beautiful, but there were also lots of honeybees visiting, so please be careful not to disturb them!
↑ Several Kawazu-zakura trees were planted together along this slope!
↑ Many bonbori lanterns are hung in front of the cherry blossoms.
↑ Tanzaku strips were hanging below the lanterns, with haiku and tanka poems related to cherry blossoms written on them.
↑ Kawazu-zakura trees are planted in various other spots around the park too!
↑ Higashiyama Park is like a small hill overall, and it even has signs that look like mountain trail markers, such as “Higashiyama 3rd Station” and “Higashiyama 7th Station”!
