The south exit of JR Ashiya Station, currently undergoing renovation work, will have part of the construction completed on Saturday, March 26, and it looks like the clothing store “UNIQLO” and the grocery store “YAMASHO” will be opening there!
(This information was provided by Kiyotan. Thank you!)
Quoted from the press release
↑ Apparently, the area opening this time is the red section shown in the diagram! Of the two tenant spaces that will begin operating, UNIQLO will be on the north side, and YAMASHO will be on the south side.
Along with the two stores, some escalators and stairways will also come into use, so it looks like the station will become much more convenient!

“UNIQLO” is, of course, the well-known clothing store, while “YAMASHO” is apparently a shop that “offers a wide range of products, including organic foods, groceries, and alcoholic beverages, based on the concept of ‘NATURAL EATS&LIQUOR’” (from the press release).
Judging by the products they plan to carry, it might end up competing with stores like “Jupiter” and “Seijo Ishii” in Mont et Mer, “Ikari Supermarket” right by the south exit, “Organic Plaza” in La Mall Ashiya, and “GLOSA ORGANIC” along the Yamate Kansen road…?
Competition among organic and high-end grocery stores around JR Ashiya Station looks like it’s going to get even tougher!
