We ordered takeout from Takoyoshi (多古好), an udon and soba restaurant near JR Ashiya Station!
Takoyoshi’s Tentojidon

Tentojidon: ¥900 (tax included) Comes with pickles (shibazuke and takuan)!

It’s a rice bowl topped with a shrimp tempura simmered with egg. Simple!

The shrimp tempura was impressively large, plump, and delicious! Even the tail was nice and crispy!

The contrast between the crispy parts of the tempura batter and the soft parts soaked in dashi broth was irresistible. Together with the pickles, it made the rice disappear in no time.
Takoyoshi’s Menu

The restaurant serves udon, soba, rice bowls, and other dishes you’d expect to find at a traditional udon and soba shop.

↑Here’s the takeout menu. The rice bowls are fully cooked and ready to eat, while the udon and soba options are designed to be cooked at home.
